Q&A: urine dribbling after yeast infection?
Question by Erin M: urine dribbling after yeast infection?
I had a yeast infection that wouldn’t go away for about 3 months that the doctor says now is cured but right toward the end I started dribbling urine and have a lot of pain in my vulvar area (probably caused by irriation from the urine). The gynecologist said it was not due to the yeast infection as yeast cannot live in the bladder. The urologist said it can but put me on a medication for OAB that is supposed to help urge incontinence (which i’m almost possitive isn’t the type I have) and it’s only helped a little. I’m only 30 years old and can’t live like this. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
PS It is NOT a urinary tract infection. Been checked for this 3 times and always negative.

Sounds more like you have a severe bladder infection or urinary tract infection. Get a test done. The yeast infection could have caused this.

Dog pees in her sleep?
Question by Emma: Dog pees in her sleep?
My dog Emma is a little over a year old. She was spayed at 4 months (more likely because we got her from the pound). I’ve been reading that spayed females sometimes lose their bladder control. She just woke up less than an hour ago, got up and her expression was “is that MY pee? did I pee? why am i wet?” kind of thing it was kind of akward for her and I could tell.
I read about the UTI’s, what are the probabilities of it being an actual infection? What are the chances of it just being caused by the fact that she was spayed? Is the medication to treat it a lifelong thing? Is it expensive? What are the side effects for long term treatment of this problem (if it is incontinence)?

Sometimes puppies don’t have control of their bladders. Doesn’t mean they have an infection. You need to get her out more to potty time than you are doing. That is what happens. When they are puppies, their bladders are smaller and don’t have hold times like we do or larger dogs. The best thing to do is take her out before you go to bed or a few times in the evenining while a few times during the day. Have to get her on the habbit. If you have recently taken her to the vet for her round of shots then you are ok. If not, then please get her puppy round of shots and dewormed. This accident happens a lot for puppies. My dog was horrible at this. Kind of like when we were kids and when we had our pee accidents in the bed while we were sleeping. I hope I helped.

What could this pelvic pain be?
Question by mary: What could this pelvic pain be?
I’m 23 yrs old and I’ve been having an on and off pelvic pain that worsens near my bladder. It first started about 3 years ago and the pain lasted for a month-month and a half. I went to a Dr at that time and they did an exam and papsmear but didn’t find anything. I also had a pelvic ultrasound done and nothing abnormal. By that time the pain started to go away and I just forgot about it. The pain would bother me every now and then but wouldn’t last very long. Then, 6 months ago the month long pain came back. Also, I noticed I started urinating more once the pain was back. After spending 5 hours at a community clinic with another Dr I was given some pills that made the crampy pain turn into sharp pain (they had something to do with urinary incontinence or something?). I stopped taking those pills and just waited it out and it eventually calmed down. Now, I have the pain again… and since I can’t afford insurance and don’t quite feel like spending my whole day at a community clinic for them to give me meds that worsen the pain I’m going to wait ’til school starts and go to the health center. But since school doesn’t start for another 2 wks I’m hoping someone on here might have some idea as to what this is? Has anyone had anything like this or has an idea of what this could be? I’d really appreciate any suggestions so I have things I can suggest to the next Dr I see

Well…those are a rather curious set of symptoms. Given that you had a normal pap and ultrasound the first time, I’m putting my money on that you are passing kidney stones. That would explain the urinary incontinence drugs making the pain sharper, as it would have constricted your urethra more. Drink more water love! Lots of it! And don’t stop just when the pain stops or you’ll keep getting them!

Are there any Pro-Life Feminists out there?
Question by Jennifer Crew: Are there any Pro-Life Feminists out there?
As a feminist, I believe that women shouldn’t have to choose between their baby and their school/career. I don’t think women should have to undergo an invasive medical procedure that could ruin her fertility–abortions often cause cervical incontinence when the cervix is artificially stretched beyond its limits, which leads to miscarriages later on. Also, the instruments often tear the wall of the uterus when the doctor has to scrape out the edges of the uterus to insure that all of the parts of the fetus are taken out. Also, infections can occur as well as damage to other organs such as the bladder or bowels.
The male that conceived the baby then goes on with absolutely no health problems or impact to his fertility.

Jennifer, you just made a pretty compelling argument for not getting an abortion, but you didn’t make a very compelling argument for telling all women that the choice has already been made for them and that your opinion on this subject has become the law.
